The joint Alaska Airlines Negotiating Committee continued negotiations with Alaska Airlines management January 30 – February 1, 2018, in Seattle, Washington, at the SeaTac DoubleTree.
Represented by the Company were: Greg Mays, Vice President/Labor; Wayne Newton, Vice President/AOCS; Jeff Butler, Vice President/Inflight & Call Centers; Mary Avey, Managing Director Call Centers; Bob Hartnett, Labor Director; Denise Kliskey, COPS Labor Manager; Melinda Mayor, Division Controller; and, Rebecca Meissner, Company Attorney.
Joining your Negotiating Committee were: Kris Hannah, Grand Lodge Representative; and Brianna Gregory, Grand Lodge Representative.
Alaska Airlines presented their COPS Openers, and your Committee reviewed the Openers presented to the Company in August 2017. After the exchange of openers, the parties quickly began identifying areas where we could start closer to each other’s positions.
Your Committee made proposals for the COPS Agreement for the following articles:
12 – Leaves of Absence; 15 – Transportation; 22 – Union Security; New – Training
Great discussion was had for the above-mentioned articles, and a Tentative Agreement was reached during this session for COPS Article 12. Though this session was dedicated to COPS proposals, we were able to reach a Tentative Agreement for RSSA Article 11.
The next negotiations session is scheduled for February 26-27, 2018 in Anchorage, Alaska, and will be focused on the RSSA contract.
