Dear Sisters and Brothers:
Since 2001, June 12 has been designated Automotive Service Professionals Day. Today we honor the thousands of automotive technicians, parts and supplies specialists, and automotive-related support professionals for the hard work and dedication they exhibit every day.
District 142 represents Ground Support Equipment (GSE) mechanics at Air Wisconsin, American Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines, while aircraft mechanics at other carriers we represent such as British Airways and PSA Airlines are also required to maintain ground equipment as part of their normal duties. We represent Ground Equipment mechanics at our many airport service contracts such as Allied Aviation, Amentum, Atlantic Aviation, Menzies Aviation, Signature Flight Support, and Swissport. These professionals keep fuel trucks and equipment in top condition at airports around the country.
As the number of automotive repair jobs has increased significantly in the last 10 years, the demand for talented and trained automotive professionals will continue to go up and these jobs are crucial in maintaining the operation of our airlines and airports.
All of us at District 142 extend our deepest thanks and appreciation to these members and the vital role they play in our union and the air transportation industry. With best wishes we remain
Sincerely and fraternally,
John M. Coveny, Jr.
