ExpressJet COVID-19 Update

Yesterday afternoon, we were made aware that one of our pilots has contracted COVID-19. We initiated immediate contact with the company, who in return offered minimal communication. Our primary concern is for our members’ safety, health and well-being.  The company has an obligation and duty to protect the safety and welfare of its employees who are considered Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers.  We are working with ALPA and gathering as much information as possible with limited resources from the company.  We do know that more than one aircraft is out of service as of yesterday.  At this time if you are experiencing any type of related symptoms from COVID-19, please follow CDC protocol https://www.cdc.gov/ , contact your doctor or MDLive through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas https://www.mdlive.com/DO NOT ATTEMPT WORK if you have been advised to begin self-quarantine protocol. Notify the company and your local Grievance Representative immediately. Your safety is more important than anything at this present moment. We are working nonstop to provide our members with protection to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Here’s what we know:

•             The pilot began showing symptoms on 3/19/2020.

•             Flight attendants/Crews have been contacted by the company.

Here’s what we have demanded:

•             The company should immediately notify all work groups of any positive COVID-19 confirmed cases and procedures followed.

•             A guideline for employee COVID-19 exposure protocol equal to what healthcare workers guidelines or better

•             Pay protection

•             Zero occurrences for COVID-19 exposure callouts

•             Crew rooms sanitized according to CDC guidelines

•             Aircraft sanitized each leg according to CDC guidelines for workplace area

•             Any best practice or protocol offered to any work group in the company shall also be offered to the flight attendants

•             The company implement a COVID-19 Safety Committee involving all work groups on best practices and protocol.

•             OJI

•             Allow flight attendants to wear masks for their protection while performing duties during flight

Please contact your Safety, Grievance, EAP, Special Representative and or General Chair if you feel you have been exposed or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
