ExpressJet CRJ Crew Track Issues

Sisters and Brothers,

The company announced today that the vacancy bid for ORD is being reopened as a result of an IT programing issue. During the testing phase of placing the CRJ FA’s into crew trac with the pilots, the IT department discovered a programing error. Once the company realized the IT issue was not corrected, the Union was immediately notified. The company believes that CRJ Flight Attendant’s based in ORD will not have access to Open Time or trip trades in any base other than ORD. As a result of this potential IT issue, the company has agreed to keep all ORD Open Time published. As of today, there is no violation to the CRJ CBA, however the IAM does recognize this would be a violation to the sections listed below:

Section 7.K.9. A Regular Lineholder may pick up Open Time at another domicile. However, the Company shall not be responsible for lodging at the domicile, for arranging transportation to or from the domicile or for deadhead or per diem in connection with any such transportation. The Flight Attendant will be responsible for being available on time for her/his next assignment.

Section 7.L.9. Regular Lineholders in different domiciles may trade trips. However, the Company shall not be responsible for lodging at the domicile, for arranging transportation to or from the domicile or for deadhead or per diem in for being available on time for her/his next assignment.

In the event the contract is violated, the IAM is prepared to follow the guidelines as specified in the CRJ CBA below:

Section 3.A.2.b. In circumstances where it would be appropriate to file a group grievance, the obligation set forth in Section A.2.a., in part reads: A Union representative will discuss the matter with a member of Inflight management in an effort to resolve it.
