As many of you may have heard violence in the western Mexican state of Jalisco which includes Guadalajara on Friday killed at least seven after the military launched an operation targeting a drug cartel.
Jalisco Gov. Aristóteles Sandoval said that the violence was a reaction to the federal government’s Operation Jalisco, “an operation to get to the bottom of and to be able to arrest all the leaders of this cartel, of this organization.”
This outbreak of violence and unrest lead us to obvious concerns with our members’ safety on overnights in the area, particularly GDL. Our Safety and Hotel Committees have been coordinating with the Company’s Corporate Security in order to ensure the safety of our members.
It was necessary to move some crew to safer areas in GDL for Saturday night. However, at this time according to the consulate and other sources, calm has been restored in the area and no alternative hotel accommodations should be necessary. Our committees will be continuing to monitor the situation and will pass along any other necessary information.
