Dear Sisters and Brothers,
As we prepare to enter into negotiations with Hawaiian Airlines, we want to communicate that Districts 141 and 142 will not only be working together to prepare for negotiations, but will also be negotiating together, as one team, to ensure we achieve the best contracts for our members. During our last round of negotiations in 2015, we employed the same joint negotiating strategy, and by doing so, we were able to secure good contracts during tough times.
Over the next several months, you will see the following:
- On July 15, 2019, District Lodges 141 and 142 posted a “Call for Proposals” on their respective web pages. The purpose of this is to give the membership an opportunity to let us know what they are concerned about or would like to see in the new contracts. This window will close on August 15, 2019, so if you have not sent in your proposal, please do so prior to the deadline.
- Once the proposals are submitted, both Districts 141 and 142 will have a screening committee meet the week of August 19, 2019 to jointly sort the proposals and identify them by Article.
- Once all the proposals are screened, Districts 141 and 142 will develop a survey, which is tentatively scheduled to be posted in the beginning of September 2019. It will remain posted until September 27, 2019 so the membership can identify what is most important to them as we enter into negotiations.
- Negotiating Committees from Districts 141 and 142 will attend a Negotiating Prep Class during the week of September 30, 2019, so they can get the proper training needed to enter into negotiations.
- While we are together for the Negotiating Prep Training, we have scheduled an initial meeting with Hawaiian Airlines on October 3, 2019 to discuss logistics, and to also schedule the first meeting dates for the opening of negotiations.
- We will also meet during the Negotiating Prep Training with both District 141 and 142 Negotiating Committees to familiarize and discuss proper protocol for these Negotiations and to discuss strategy.
We anticipate negotiations will begin in January, 2020. As we move towards January, 2020, we wanted to inform you on how we are proceeding and to make sure you understand the process. Working together as one group will allow us to have the strength and unity needed to achieve a good contract.
Thanks for everything you do. We look forward to working together on your behalf.
