Sisters and Brothers:
Greetings everyone and Happy New Year! As you are all aware, a signing bonus was paid out in December of 2021. Many of you had questions about the amounts, and rightfully so. Your questions were valid and on point because the amounts paid were short by a sum of money based on how it was explained to you during ratification. Your Shop Stewards were quick to catch on to this and immediately let me know of their concerns. The amounts paid to you were based on projections made back in May of 2021. In addition to those payments that were made, the amounts that were originally allocated to the now ineligible employees was not added back into the total disbursement for all the eligible employees. This created a shortfall of just less than $19k dollars.
We engaged with the Company about this discrepancy, and while there was initial confusion and disagreement over the original formulas that drove how the disbursement was to be made, we were able to resolve the disagreement with the company and generate correct amounts that will wholly satisfy the signing bonus language for each eligible employee. After jointly agreeing to the correct shortfall amounts for each eligible employee, it is my understanding that those additional amounts will go to payroll today to be paid shortly.
I want to thank Bob Nedeljkovic and Jay Schmid for their diligence with this issue on behalf of the membership, and with helping to supply independent data that helped determine the shortfall amounts. We will continue to follow this problem until the final payments are made to each eligible employee. In solidarity and with best wishes, we remain
Sincerely and fraternally,
James M. Samuel Kenneth Coley
