IAM/Alaska-Hawaiian Joint Collective Bargaining Agreement Negotiations Update

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

Your District 142 Joint Alaska–Hawaiian Negotiating Committee met with the Company last week at District 142 Headquarters in Phoenix to continue work on the Joint Collective Bargaining Agreement (JCBA). The following articles were discussed:

  • Hours of Service: After extensive discussion, the Union and Company reached a tentative agreement.
  • Bridge Agreement: The Union and Company have reached a tentative agreement that focuses on codifying practices that have developed since the previous contract.
  • Home Agents: Several proposal exchanges took place, but no tentative agreement was reached. Work on this article will continue at the next session.
  • Classifications, Transportation, Transfers, and Moving Expenses: The Company delivered its first proposals. Your team is reviewing and preparing responses for the next meeting.

Your committee is convening this week at Local 1979 in Honolulu to prepare for the next bargaining session with the Company, scheduled for the week of December 15 in Seattle.

Thank you for your continued support and solidarity throughout this process. If you have questions or concerns, please contact a Shop Steward or a member of the negotiating committee.

Sincerely and fraternally,
