IAM / BRITISH AIRWAYS CUSTOMER SERVICE & ENGINEERING TENTATIVE AGREEMENTS REACHED

On July 13, 2017 the company presented your committee with a proposal to outsource the entire US Customer Service operation. At the same time the Engineering group was falling further and further behind. Fast forward to February 28, 2019 and we faced the newest and third company negotiator and Engineering still hadn’t gotten anywhere. Today I am pleased to announce that over the last eight months we have been able to craft Tentative Agreements for our Customer Service and Engineering brothers and sisters that answer the issues in both groups. Here are some of highlights from both TAs:

CUSTOMER SERVICE

  • Continued Job Security over new 4-year term
  • Improved healthcare for part-time employees
  • Economic improvements over term of CBA
  • Large potential for insourcing at new stations
  • New ACSR Position
  • Language cleanup throughout entire CBA
  • A Customer Service Buyout Program
  • Continuing IAM Pension Contributions
  • Retiree Reimbursement Account (RRA) available

ENGINEERING

  •  Industry Competitive Wages over term of CBA
  • Industry Competitive A&P License Premiums
  • Sick time improved
  • A limited Engineering Buyout Program
  • Language cleanup throughout entire CBA
  • Retiree Reimbursement Account (RRA) available
  • Vacation time improved
  • Temp upgrade pay improved
  • Continuing IAM Pension contributions

Both of these Tentative Agreements represent many hours of hard work and sacrifice by your negotiating committee members and others in the bargaining unit. This Committee unanimously recommends a YES vote on these Tentative Agreements. In the next few days, copies of the complete CBA with all language changes will arrive at each station for the membership to review. In the meantime, electronic copies of the TA will be available at www.iamdl142.org. A bulletin with information about the future scheduling of road show meetings and ratification meetings will be released very shortly. If you have any questions, please give me a call at (859) 653-4037 or email me at or contact one of your negotiating committee members. With best wishes we remain

Sincerely and fraternally,
