IAM / BRITISH AIRWAYS NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

The Company and Union commenced formal Section 6 negotiations today. Present for the Union were James M. Samuel, General Chairperson, Mike Manzo, Grand Lodge Special Representative, Reggie Gauthier, JFK CS and John Reisert, JFK Engineering. The Company committee was comprised of 5 representatives with Doug Caines acting as the spokesperson.

As most of you heard in your shift briefings today, the Company presented to the Union a proposal to outsource the remaining 10 stations in the US which are SFO, LAX, ORD, IAH, MIA, IAD, PHL, EWR, JFK and BOS. The proposal to do so, much like the information contained in your briefing, was very lite on substance. Because of that, we should be concentrating on what we do know at this point.  No such change is imminent and must be negotiated.  This means we could reject that proposal outright and negotiate over it in to perpetuity.  The Company acknowledged as much and as no surprise, have taken the same tact as in the past whereby they are putting a large carrot on the table (severance packages), and saying the longer this process takes, the smaller the carrot becomes.

I can assure everyone that with the full support and resources of the IAM, International President Robert Martinez, and the Transportation Department staff, led by GVP Sito Pantoja, we will explore every opportunity and come up with a game plan to address this action by the Company.

The only source for accurate information concerning these negotiations will be from District Lodge 142 and will be released following each negotiating session.  As always, if you have any questions about this process, please give me a call at (859) 653-4037 or email me at ">.  With best wishes, we remain

Sincerely and fraternally,

James M. Samuel
