IAM District 142 Appoints Robert Trapanese as Vice President At-Large

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

IAM District 142 is proud to announce the appointment of Robert Trapanese as Vice President At-Large. Robert brings over thirty years of dedication, leadership, and service to the IAM, and his extensive experience within both his workplace and his local lodge makes him an outstanding addition to the District 142 leadership team.

Robert began his career with Allied Aviation in February 1993 as a fueler. His strong work ethic and motivation quickly led to new roles; he was promoted to Tankman at the tank farm in 1994, and became a Mechanic responsible for repairing fuel trucks in 1995.

His union leadership journey began in 2000, when he volunteered as a shop steward. By 2005, Robert was elected Chief Shop Steward, a role he continues to hold today, after more than 20 years of steadfast service to his members. Robert’s involvement extends far beyond the shop floor. In 2018, he was elected Vice President of Local Lodge 1445. In 2021, he became President of LL 1445, where he continues to serve with distinction.

Since 2005, Robert has been involved in every contract negotiation for his group and has participated in numerous arbitrations, bringing frontline knowledge and strong advocacy skills to the table. His training includes Leadership I and the Election Course at the Winpisinger Center—preparation that reinforces his capability for this new District role.

Outside of work and union responsibilities, Robert enjoys a full family life. He and his wife live “down the shore” in New Jersey, where they raise their two sons. The Trapanese family loves boating and spending time together on the water.

We look forward to the strength and insight Robert brings to the District Executive Board and to the continued support he will provide to our members. Please join us in congratulating Robert Trapanese on this well-earned appointment.

Sincerely and fraternally,

John M. Coveny, Jr.
President/Directing General Chair
