Dear Sisters and Brothers:
IAM District 142 is proud to announce that Scott Schlaiss has been appointed to the position of Vice President At-Large.
Scott joined the IAM in November 2023 and brings with him more than a decade of experience in the airline industry. After nearly 10 years working at mainline, he gained valuable knowledge of the TWU-IAM Association contract. Scott continued his career with PSA Airlines, where he has been for just over 2 years. His background also includes familiarity with the TWU collective bargaining agreement at Envoy (American Eagle), providing him with a well-rounded understanding of the contractual landscape governing our members’ rights and protections.
Over the past year, Scott has served as the IAM Chief Steward in CLT, a role in which he has been dedicated to ensuring strong, consistent representation for the membership. He has completed IAM steward training, volunteered to welcome new hires into the union during indoctrination sessions, and worked diligently to strengthen communication and coordination between PSA and the Local to support members better and build unity.
Outside of work, Scott resides on a small farm in South Carolina with his wife and a lively collection of animals, including a Belgian Draft horse and a donkey. He enjoys spending time outdoors, competing in endurance riding with his rescue standardbred, Wicked, and participating in barn hunts with his dogs.
Scott shared that he looks forward to this new opportunity to help strengthen and promote the IAM for all members across District 142.
Please join us in congratulating Scott Schlaiss on his appointment as Vice President At-Large and in thanking him for his continued service and commitment to the District 142 membership.
Sincerely and fraternally,
John M. Coveny, Jr.
President/Directing General Chair
