Negotiations commenced this week between the IAM and PSA Airlines. Present for the Company was Matthew J. Kernan, Director of Flight Operations, and Karl Hanisch, Director of Maintenance. Present for the Union was James M. Samuel, General Chair, Todd Roan, Ian Cole and Greg Farmer, Negotiating Committee Members.
The dialogue between the parties was positive and substantive. Topics of discussion included a detailed conversation concerning the upcoming health care plan changes with a presentation given by Bobby Jones, Director of Finance/IT, processes and procedures both sides will use in direct negotiations with respect to proposals and costing, discussions on locations for future meetings, and the setting of dates for future negotiation sessions. The dates are tentatively set for the weeks of November 23, December 14 and January 4 of 2016.
Additional talks centered on Articles of the contract in which neither party planned on opening for an exchange of proposals at this point. Those articles tentatively agreed to were Article 12 – Jury Duty, 22 – Savings Clause, 23 – No Other Agreements, 26 – Conduct of Union Business and 27 – Union Shop and Voluntary Dues Checkoff.
