IAM/PSA Airlines Negotiations Update

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

Negotiations resumed this week in CLT under the auspices of the National Mediation Board (NMB) with Mediators Jack Stephan and Mike Tosi leading the meetings. Your IAM District 142 negotiating committee were all in attendance as well as that of the Company.

This week’s meeting agenda was focused solely on the economic disparities that exist after previous proposals having been exchanged at past meetings. The first day was largely consumed by discussion led by the Mediators about our respective positions. Your committee clearly communicated to the company about the industry, economic realities associated with the membership’s proposals and recent manpower and staffing issues. At the end of the first day, your committee made an economic pass covering base rates and license premiums.

The Company in turn made a counterproposal back to the Union on the second day which prompted further discussions. While there still remains a divide between our respective positions, that divide became smaller this week which is a sign of progress. In any case, whatever the result of negotiations, it will be the will of the membership, through your voice and your vote, that will determine what is acceptable.

Future dates for mediation sessions were tentatively set for the week of April 24 in CLT. If you have any questions about the contents of this bulletin, please reach out to your negotiating committee members or your General Chairperson, James M. Samuel, at or (859) 653-4037, for additional help or information. Thank you for your patience and commitment. With best wishes we remain

Sincerely and fraternally,
