IAM / Southwest Airlines Negotiations Updates

Sisters and Brothers:

Your Negotiating Committee met with Southwest Airlines on Thursday and Friday, February 24th and 25th to make known to the Company the concerns of the membership regarding the failed Tentative Agreement.

One of the top concerns voiced by the membership, which is no surprise to anyone, was Mandatory Overtime. This issue was expressed both at ratification meetings and on the survey responses, as it relates to Quality of Life.

We are happy to report that your Negotiating Committee spent the sessions this week addressing the mandatory overtime issues. There has been significant progress and dialogue put forth by both the company and your Negotiation Committee.

We have secured March 2nd, 3rd, and 4th where your negotiating team will continue presenting additional issues raised by the membership including all the economic issues, such as pay raises, etc. to the company.

We look forward to our discussions with the Company next week in hopes of progressing towards an agreement our membership can be proud of.

We would like to thank each, and every, member for your patience and unwavering support while we try to resolve the remaining issues at the negotiation table. With best wishes we remain,

Sincerely and fraternally,

John M. Coveny, Jr.
