IAM/SWISSPORT SJC CALL FOR CONTRACT PROPOSALS

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

IAM District 142 will soon begin negotiations for a collective bargaining agreement with Swissport SJC. As we prepare for the task ahead, the official Call for Contract Proposals is one of the first steps.

Submitting contract proposals is one way that you, the IAM members at Swissport SJC, can be directly involved in the negotiation of your contract. By telling the union exactly what you want or don’t want in your contract, you will be enabling them to negotiate effectively. This empowers you by giving you a voice at the negotiating table.

To help you submit good contract proposals, you need to understand what a collective bargaining agreement looks like, the way the language reads, and what sort of things you may want to be negotiated for you and your fellow members. For example: wage rates, premiums, work scope, benefits, safety and health, work rules, and more. On the District 142 website, you will find current collective bargaining agreements for Swissport stations in Las Vegas (LAS) and Phoenix (PHX): www.atd142.org/swissport/. Studying these contracts will help give you good ideas for what you would like to see in your agreement.

The IAM/Swissport SJC Contract Proposal Form is online and can be accessed by the QR Code or the link below.

You may submit as many proposals as you like; however, please fill out a separate form for each proposal. The deadline is July 26, 2024. Once submitted, the union will collect and review these proposals and this will help with the direction of negotiations.

Once the union and the company agree on a schedule for negotiations, we will announce the dates and update you on the progress. Our goal is always to bring you a Tentative Agreement that you will be proud to vote YES for.

Don’t hesitate to contact your General Chair, Jeff James, at , with any questions or concerns. Your support is needed as we prepare for negotiations, and we thank you for your solidarity.

Sincerely and fraternally,
