Dear Sisters and Brothers:
The National Mediation Board (NMB) issued a ruling today, July 30, 2025, that Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines are operating as a single transportation system for representation purposes under the Railway Labor Act (RLA).
The official ruling states that the investigation will now proceed to address the representation of the craft or class of Mechanics and Related Employees. At this time, any intervenor has thirty days from the date of this determination to file an application supported by a showing of interest of at least 50% of the single transportation system per NMB regulations found in manual sections 19.601 and 19.603.
As we work with the NMB to secure a representation vote for Mechanics and Related employees at Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, the existing certifications will remain in effect until the NMB issues a new certification or dismissal.
