OPENSKIES Negotiations Update

On October 6, 7 and 8, 2015 the Company and Union negotiating committees met at Park Avenue, NYC to continue negotiations for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.  The Company’s committee included Valerie Francois, Tony Schepens, and Cristina Kirkorian and Richard Vitarelli, the Company’s labor attorney.  The Union was represented by Michael Manzo and Cathy Carey.
During these sessions, the parties discussed leaves of absence, the possibility of offering part time or alternative schedules if staffing increases, proposals for updating the grievance procedure, rules surrounding the temporary upranking list and filling CCL vacancies, health care, and language permitting the carry-over of up to five (5) days of vacation to the next vacation year.
Near the end of the third day, the Company provided the committee with their initial wage offer that set forth a revised 11-step pay schedule.  Your committee was very disappointed by the Company’s opening offer but we have agreed to review the schedule and to provide a counterproposal on wages prior to the next session.  The next scheduled sessions are October 29 and November 18, 2015.

We will continue to keep you updated as negotiations progress.

Sincerely,

Michael Manzo
