Your Negotiating Committee met with the Company in direct negotiations at the IAM Headquarters on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Present for the Company were Blake Martin, Director of Labor Relations and Otis Williams, VP of Operations. After more than 3 months since the Company’s last offer was rejected by you, the membership at BWI, your committee, Aaron Thompson and General Chair Bill Wise, with the assistance of Grand Lodge Representatives John Werkmeister and Edison Fraser, came prepared to put these negotiations back on track and obtain an agreement to bring back for your review and ratification.
After a review of the operation at BWI and current financial data as related to this operation, your Committee was able to obtain changes to the Company’s last proposal and reached a Tentative Agreement to be brought back to you for review and ratification. This agreement sets provisions for future wage increases, shift premiums, premium position pay, job descriptions, a signing bonus and other terms.
The process for a ratification vote, as set forth in the District 142 By-Laws, Article XIII, is currently in progress. Enough copies of the Tentative Agreement have been made and are being sent to Aaron Thompson for distribution to you. Your Negotiating Committee will be on the property on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 to answer any and all questions you may have. You will vote on the Tentative on January 24, 2019. Voting polls will be opened on the 24th in the breakroom at BWI at 12 noon to 3 PM and 9 to 11 PM. The split voting times will afford all shifts the opportunity to vote. Your committee recommends a YES vote for this tentative agreement.
Thank you for your support through this process.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Bill Wise Aaron Thompson
