UNIFI Workers at Westchester County Airport Vote to Join IAM District 142

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

Customer service workers at Unifi Aviation at Westchester County Airport (HPN) have voted to join the IAM Union, strengthening our growing union presence across the air transport industry.

Nearly 40 workers who support airline operations, including Delta Air Lines and Breeze Airways, stood together to secure a collective voice on the job. Their victory comes after workers faced an aggressive anti-union campaign that prompted the IAM to file an Unfair Labor Practice charge.

IAM District 142 was proud to support these workers every step of the way as they organized for respect, fairness, and a seat at the table. The campaign was led by IAM Air Transport Territory Associate Rachel Arnold, with assistance from Associate Carmelo Benedicto, District 142 Organizer Cordelle Frazer, and District 142 Director of Organizing Jackson Hartsfield.

“This is what solidarity looks like,” said IAM District 142 President/Directing General Chair John M. Coveny Jr. “This organizing win at HPN Airport shows once again that airline workers across the industry are standing up, joining together and demanding better.”

“The Unifi CSAs at HPN ran a heartfelt campaign that was a fight to the very end, facing every challenge with courage, unity, and determination,” said District 142 Director of Organizing Jackson Hartsfield. “Through it all, they kept their heads high, stood together, and pulled out a hard-earned win they can be proud of.”

This win builds on recent IAM organizing victories with Unifi workers in Fresno, Calif., San Jose, and Cleveland. District 142 looks forward to standing with these new members as they prepare to bargain for a strong first contract that improves pay, benefits, working conditions, and dignity on the job.

Sincerely and fraternally,

John M. Coveny, Jr.
