VICTORY LODGE 1725 WOMEN’S COMMITTEE GOLF TOURNAMENT RAISES $7500 FOR GUIDE DOGS!

Victory Lodge 1725 in Charlotte, NC hosted a spring golf tournament on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, benefiting Guided Dogs of America – Tender Loving Canines (GDA/TLC). The Captain’s Choice tournament was held at nearby Harry L. Jones Golf Course and featured over 20 teams with members and guests from IAM Districts 142 and 141.

This year’s tournament was organized by the Victory Lodge 1725 Women’s Committee, headed up by Sister Lisa Leathers and LL 1725 President Helena Thornton. The members of the Women’s Committee did an outstanding job preparing and promoting the event, signing up golfers and sponsors, and soliciting donations and prizes to be raffled off at the conclusion of the tournament. The team from Harry L. Jones Golf Course were excellent hosts, providing a safe and fun atmosphere for all the participants and assisting the organizers in any way possible.

Special guests for the event included DL 142 President/Directing General Chair (PDGC) John Coveny and DL 141 PDGC Mike Klemm (who played on a team together), IAM General Secretary-Treasurer Dora Cervantes, her Executive Secretary Jackie True, IAM Women’s and Human Rights Director Julie Frietchen, and Grand Lodge Auditor (and member of LL 1725) Charlie Hines. On hand to give the introduction were Teresa and Tony Blevins (Special Assistant to the International President) and Teresa’s guide dog Delilah. General Chairs from DL 142, Associate General Chairs from DL 141 and officers and staff from both district lodges were also on hand.

The event raised $7,500 for Guide Dogs!!!!
