Dear Sisters and Brothers:
Friday marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States. On that morning, commercial aircraft were used as weapons against the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and, because of the courage and sacrifice of the passengers and crew aboard United Flight 93, a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Nearly 3,000 innocent people were killed, including passengers, crew members, first responders, military personnel, and citizens of the United States and many other nations.
For those of us in the airline, aviation, and aerospace industries, September 11 is not only a national day of remembrance; it is personal. Our members reported to work in the days, weeks, and years that followed under changed conditions, heightened security, uncertainty, grief, and fear. Many carried the weight of that day while continuing to serve the traveling public, protect one another, and keep our industry moving.
Each anniversary can bring back difficult memories for members, families, and coworkers. Some may remember where they were when the attacks occurred. Others may feel renewed concern because of the work we do and the industry we serve. Those reactions are real, and no member should feel that they must carry them alone.

As we remember the lives lost and honor all who responded with courage, compassion, and resolve, we also recognize the unity shown by working people across this country.
