DISTRICT 142 SALUTES RETIRING FLIGHT SAFETY DIRECTOR JOHN HALL

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

District Lodge 142 Flight Safety Director John Hall has retired from the position he held for many years, effective January 5, 2024.

Brother Hall began working on behalf of IAM members on the Flight Safety Committee in 1988 with US Airways while assigned to District Lodge 141M and then District Lodge 142. In his 36 years with Flight Safety, John has served in many capacities: committee member, appointed Director of Flight Safety in 2006, longtime contributor of Flight Safety articles in the District 142 Observer newsletter, and as a member of the Joint Air Transport Safety Committee since 2011. During his career, he has represented many of our members before the FAA and NTSB in investigations and certificate actions. He participated in major accident investigations representing the IAM in 1991, 2003, and 2009.

John was also instrumental in the implementation of the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) at US Airways/American Airlines while assisting with all carriers that District 142 represents and he contributed to the creation of the IAM Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT).

District 142 President/Directing General Chair John M. Coveny, Jr. made the informal announcement this week during his Zoom Webinar Engagement Meeting and noted that “John Hall has served with distinction for many years and his experience level will truly be missed.”

Sincerely and fraternally,

John M. Coveny, Jr.
President/Directing General Chair
IAM District 142

James M. Samuel
