District 142 Director of Education

Greetings Brothers and Sisters:

We are honored to introduce the dedicated and passionate members of the District 142 Education Committee. Under the leadership of Education Committee Chair Al Melendez, this team brings together a wealth of experience and enthusiasm for empowering our membership through education. The committee includes:

Yusuf Baskin, Nancy Bloom, Eric Gorton, Patrick Hamilton, Renita Gibbs, Candie Lewis, Lakendria Woods, Sherri Rodriguez, and Derrick Bushnell.

Our mission is to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement across District 142. Each member was selected for their expertise, creativity, and deep commitment to advancing education within our union.

To support this mission, we’ve developed a series of training classes tailored to the evolving needs of our industry. These sessions will cover essential topics such as the Online Grievance Manager Program (GMP), Duties of a Shop Steward, Hosting Steward engagement calls, among others. Our goal is to equip members with the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles and contribute meaningfully to our collective success.

We encourage all members to take full advantage of these opportunities. Investing in professional development helps us stay ahead in a rapidly changing work environment, expand our skill sets, and prepare for future challenges and opportunities.
