ExpressJet Safety Update April 7, 2020

Brother and Sisters:

Below is what we have demanded and an update on each item:

  •  The Company should immediately notify all work groups of any positive COVID-19 confirmed cases and procedures followed. The Company has agreed.
  •  A guideline for employee COVID-19 exposure protocol equal to what healthcare workers guidelines are, or better.
  •  Pay protection: Currently, the company is pay protecting the FAs with no occurrences if they are advised to self-quarantine with proper documentation. 
  • Zero occurrences for COVID-19 exposure callouts:  Currently, the company is pay protecting the FAs with no occurrences if they are advised to self-quarantine with proper documentation. 
  •  Crew rooms sanitized according to CDC guidelines:  The Company has agreed.
  •  Aircraft sanitized each leg according to CDC guidelines for workplace area:   The Company has agreed.
  •  Any best practice or protocol offered to any work group in the company shall also be offered to the flight attendants:  The Company has agreed.
  •  The company implement a COVID-19 Safety Committee involving all work groups on best practices and protocol. An official committee wasn’t formed.  However, the IAM safety team is working with Corporate Safety and ALPA to ensure a safe work environment.
  •  OJI – Currently, the company is pay protecting the FAs with no occurrences if they are advised to self-quarantine with proper documentation. 
  •  Allow flight attendants to wear masks for their protection while performing duties during flight. The Company has agreed.

COVID-19 Email

If you have questions or concerns please email which will go to a committee of people including safety, EAP and District Lodge Representatives. Please identify where you are based and that you are an XJT flight attendant.

Virus/PPE Kits

The Virus Kits that were scheduled for Tuesday are now to arrive Thursday at the Hubs without the face masks as expected.  The company states there is a shipping issue with the masks and are trying to resolve this immediately.  The Virus Kits will have Purell wipes, sani-coms, and an informational card. 

The company has agreed to allow the members to bring their own surgical masks and use during all phases of flight.  Per the company, please continue to review updated information from the CDC.  The CDC has made recommendations regarding face masks when resources are limited.

Cleaning of ACs

Aircrafts should be continuing to receive their “Turn Cleans”.  If your AC is not receiving a “Turn Clean” at a Hub, please notify your PIC. The PIC will notify OPS, and cleaners will be dispatched to the AC.  Please file an ASAP and an IOR if your ACs aren’t being serviced for your safety, and the public’s safety.

Reminder

If you’re feeling ill/sick, displaying symptoms please do not come to work. If you’re on a layover notify MEDAIRE with your symptoms and follow their directions.  Notify the Company, and your Grievance/Safety rep as soon as possible.
