IAM/Lufthansa Technik – Work Availability and Facility Visit Update

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

Recently, the Company announced that there will be little to no work available for the next several weeks, continuing through the end of August. If work levels remain low, the Company may implement reduced schedules. We understand that this situation may create financial uncertainty and hardship for some members, and we are committed to keeping you informed as we receive additional information.

Your Collective Bargaining Agreement addresses situations involving a shortage of work. Article 9(B) states that five (5) workdays totaling forty (40) hours constitute a standard work week and that the Company will determine available work schedules as appropriate. The Agreement further provides that if there is no work for an extended period, the Company must notify the IAM International/District 142 Representative and discuss the alternatives available to affected employees. While the Agreement does not guarantee a specific number of hours per day or week, District 142 is actively engaged with the Company regarding this situation and will continue to monitor developments closely on your behalf.

To ensure we have the opportunity to hear directly from our members, District 142 has formally notified the Company of our intent to conduct a facility visit on June 30. Our goal is to meet with you face-to-face, answer questions, hear your concerns, and ensure your voice is represented as we move forward. These conversations are invaluable as we work to protect the interests of our membership.

We also recognize that uncertainty surrounding work schedules can create stress, anxiety, and other personal challenges for members and their families. Please remember that the IAM Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available to provide confidential support and guidance. If you would like assistance or simply need someone to talk to, please contact District 142 EAP Director Paul Shultz at (704) 907-3563 (24-Hour Confidential Voicemail), pshultz@iamdl142.org, or pm.shultz@att.net. The EAP is a confidential resource that helps members and their families navigate difficult situations and connect with additional support services when needed.

Please make sure you receive accurate and timely information by signing up for District 142 updates at www.atd142.org.
