Dear Sisters and Brothers:
Your Negotiating Committee recently wrapped up the 26th round of negotiations with Qantas management at the IAM District 142 offices in Phoenix. We want to thank everyone who engaged with us this week. Your energy and input are what keep this process moving forward.
The week kicked off on Monday with two webinar sessions for our LAX members. We appreciate everyone who took the time to join us:
- First Session: A small, focused group provided valuable initial feedback.
- Second Session: We saw a much stronger turnout, leading to a robust discussion.
Your questions were insightful and helped us represent your interests more effectively. We look forward to hosting more of these sessions soon.
On Tuesday, the Union met face-to-face with Company leadership to streamline the week’s workload. A significant portion of our time was dedicated to Article 36 – Benefits. What began as a side discussion evolved into a very constructive dialogue. We have developed specific language and passed it to the Company for review. We are hopeful this item may soon move toward a Tentative Agreement.
Throughout this round, the Committee remained laser-focused on the articles that affect your income, time, and work-life balance. However, several critical pieces of the contract remain open:
- Rates of Pay & Wage Rules
- Benefits
- Travel on Duty / Training / Field Service / Remote Support
- Union Security / Dues Check-Off
These provisions are the “bread and butter” of your contract. They define your long-term security and ensure your compensation reflects the high level of professionalism you bring to Qantas every day.
Negotiations are scheduled to resume on May 12th in Los Angeles. We are heading back to the table with a clear focus and a determination to secure the agreement you deserve.

Thank you for your continued solidarity; it is our greatest strength.
Sincerely and fraternally,
