Dear Sisters and Brothers:
It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of Southwest Airlines Flight Attendant Jenny Lupton of Moore, Oklahoma.
While Jenny was not a member of IAM District 142, she was a fellow union member of TWU Local 556 and a valued member of our airline family, having devoted 26 years of service to Southwest Airlines. Jenny was deeply loved by both reservations agents and airport employees throughout Oklahoma. For many of our brothers and sisters in and around Oklahoma City, particularly those represented by Local 2909, this loss may feel especially close to home. Others across our industry may also be affected, as news of a tragedy involving one of our own often reaches far beyond a single workplace, city, or union.
In the airline industry, we share a unique bond. We understand the challenges, sacrifices, and commitment that come with serving the traveling public. When we lose a member of that family, the impact is felt throughout our industry. A loss like this reminds us that we are connected not only through our professions, but through our shared humanity.
During difficult times, it is important to remember that you do not have to carry grief, stress, or emotional burdens alone. Whether you knew Jenny personally, worked with her, have family connections in the area, or are simply struggling with the news, support is available.
