Dear Sisters and Brothers:
IAM District 142 has received formal notification from Allied Aviation of its intention to permanently cease its fueling operations at LaGuardia Airport and implement a reduction in force affecting all bargaining unit employees beginning on or about July 1, 2026.
We understand that this news is deeply concerning for our members and their families. Please know that your Union is actively addressing this matter and will take every necessary step to ensure that all contractual protections under our Collective Bargaining Agreement are fully honored and enforced.
As this process moves forward, District 142 will work to protect the rights of every affected member under the terms of the Agreement, including the seniority, reduction-in-force, and displacement provisions contained in Articles 13 and 15. We will closely monitor the Company’s actions to ensure full compliance with all contractual obligations and to safeguard the interests of our membership.
District 142 representatives will also engage with the Company regarding the effects of this announced layoff and any opportunities that may become available to lessen the impact on our members. We are committed to providing clear and timely information throughout this process.
We recognize the uncertainty that accompanies announcements such as this one. During this difficult time, it is important that we remain united and informed. We encourage members to stay in contact with their Local representatives and watch for official communications from District 142 regarding timelines, contractual rights, and any additional developments.
Please be assured that you are not facing this situation alone. District 142 EAP representatives are available to assist you in navigating this difficult development. If you feel that you need to speak to someone from EAP, please contact Paul Shultz at pshultz@iamdl142.org or by his 24-hour confidential voicemail at (704) 907-3563.
The IAM stands in solidarity with every Allied Aviation member at LaGuardia Airport. We will continue to advocate on your behalf and will keep you informed as new information becomes available.
Sincerely and fraternally,
