Dear Sisters and Brothers:
Your District 142 Joint Alaska-Hawaiian negotiating team continued Joint Collective Bargaining Agreement (JCBA) negotiations with the company this week at the Alaska Airlines Flight Operations building in Seattle. Your committee passed the company a comprehensive proposal including everything needed for a fair contract to bring us in line with the industry.
A comprehensive proposal is effectively a term sheet with all outstanding open issues in negotiations. The major open issues in our contract are:
Job/Work security- Our proposal would protect all work in locations where we are currently performing the work on either AS or HA, insource the HA reservations work, and provide protections from AI encroachment on our work.
Wages and compensation– Our proposal would bring us in line with industry standards for wages across all represented groups.
Health Care coverage and Rates– Our proposal would protect the health care plans we have in place today and provide cost controlling measures on a go forward basis.
Retirement- Our proposal would increase retirement contributions made by the company to our retirement accounts in line with what other workgroups are receiving.
This is not a comprehensive list of the changes proposed, just the largest open items that must be resolved before an agreement can be reached. The strength of your negotiating team is a direct reflection of the strength of the membership’s support; please stand strong to get the contract we all deserve.
Our next session with the company is scheduled for the week of October 5th in Phoenix, where we hope to receive a response to our proposal.
